Who Wore it Best: From Geek to Shiek, the Golden Beauty

August 14, 2010

Here are two beautiful ladies that I just love!  They know how to take on any role and make it their own.  More over, they are talented and well-regarded as great actresses as far as I’m concerned.  So when I saw them fashioned in this golden elegant Vivienne Westwood gown, you can imagine how impressed I was at their choice in selection.  Eve Mendes chose to lighten the golden frock with a pair of “metallic Casadei heels, simple jewelry, flawless makeup, and a sleek updo” attending San Diego’s Comic.con to promote her latest movie, “The Other Guys,” back on July 23.

A month prior to that, “Pursuit of Happyness” star, Thandie Newton, was photographed in the same golden frock at the launch party for jewelry designer Solange Azagury-Partridge’s new flagship store on Bond Street in London.  Newton kept her accessories to a minimum, which kept the main attention drawn to the gown.  She went with a pair of the Georgina Goodman strappy sandals, which are high-fi in shoe designs, and happen to do very well with being matched to the gown.  The jewelry she wore is from Azagury-Partridge, and she carried a cute little black clutch.  In this ensemble, she wore a down-to-the-shoulder sleek hair style which brings out the features of her thin face.  Just beautiful.

I love doing the “Who Wore it Best” segments because you get to compare one person to another to see how any ensemble was worn.  In this case, and not just because I happen to admire both actresses, I’d have to say they both did the Vivienne Westwood gown justice.  Well matched and well represented.  They didn’t over do it in accessories, which would have just taken away from the gown itself, and they kept their hair styles to a bare minimum.  Both choice of shoes were ideal, I probably would have made a similar decision, although I’d have to admit that Mendes making the metallic choice would have been my first choice.

But what do you think?  Comment this blog post and let me know your thoughts.
