Who Wore it Best: The Dolce & Gabanna Black Dress Battle

December 22, 2010

As a prom dress perhaps, I could see it worn as such, but I wouldn’t go so far as to compare it to the goth genre, that is of course you pair it up with dark accessories that will no doubt take away from Dolce & Gabbana’s purpose for creating this beautiful garment.

I think it would have to depend on the individual’s body type and torso length. As with Winona Ryder who wore this lace dress. I just don’t think this dress was right for her.  With her height it make her look just plain weird.  She certainly looked like she was going to a goolish party. Her hair, though similar to Alessandra Ambrosio’s hair style, was poorly done; just looked sloppy.  Her makeup was awful, and the shoes she wore were just plain wrong.   Wearing this dress to the 2010 Gotham Independent Film Awards in November was not a good choice in terms of dress selection.  She should have chosen something that would have better complimented her body type, complexion, and height, and definitely chosen a better hair style.

On the other hand Alessandra Ambrosio sported the same dress two months prior in September during week Fashion Week in Milan, showcasing her super model tan, lovely hairstyle, subtle makeup and simple accessories, add the shoes and she’s got the right look that makes the Dolce & Gabanna lace dress stand out just perfectly.  Her height and torso length features the complete look of the dress.

Who do I think wore this dress best?  It’s obvious.  The lovely Alessandra Ambrosio certainly knocked it out the ball park, holding the look of the dress together.  But don’t take it from me, who do you think wore it best?  I’d like to hear from my readers.
