Style File: Who is Behind the Vena Cava Line?

January 21, 2011

This week, Style File takes a look at a hot new team of designers who are behind the impressive line of fashion today.

Originality is at its best with these two young creative and talented designers who hail from Los Angeles and Pasadena, venturing out to New York to attend Parsons School of Design in 1999.  Lisa Mayock and Sophie Buhai both graduated from Parsons in 2003, only to go on to create the first Vena Cava line three weeks later on their living room floor.

The two talented designers are currently serving as members on the BYT’s (Bright Young Thing’s) Style Council.

Ironically, the two young ladies met at Parsons, and joined together to form a fierce alliance in what would be considered — in my opinion — the most unique style fashionistas have ever seen.  They add new looks to new trends, upping the antie in what we can expect to see in the new year’s fashion scene.

They strongly believe that “original style comes from the person wearing the fashion rather than the designer label behind the clothes.”  A statement never spoken more truer.

Where can you buy Vena Cava fashion?  If you’re in the Southern California area you can visit Barneys and Ron Herman in Beverly Hills.  Ron Herman also has a store in Brentwood.  There are other stores in Corona Del Mar, Los Angeles, Costa Mesa, Glendale, Pasadena, Malibu, Menlo Park, and Pasadena.  For a list of other stores and how to buy online visit their Vena Cava site.
