Season of the Wedges

March 3, 2011

This year I can say I am overly impressed with the exquisite styles of wedges this year.  Coming from back in the day when the styles were ordinary, plain and simple, wedges have been given new life with the daring and bold designs we are seeing today.

Wedges today are universal, being worn with everything from our favorite capris, shorts, dresses or skirt ensemble.  Like high heels, wedges are being designed with everyone in mind.  I like these cream colored wedges with the gold kriss cross design because I can easily sport them work with my brown capris and my cream/ivory short sleeve sweater or pleated top.

If you want to get cute with it, try something like this.  These adorable Sbicca brown wedges with the gold leaf flower on the side and wide straps are just as cute as ever.  They present a comfy cushioned insole, and the wedge itself is about 4 1/2 or so.  Very dazzling for the spring/summer seasons.  I picked these up from Ross Stores.

Snaz75 can deliver a wild variety of wedges if you’re looking for something on the sexy, fun and wild side.

These babies can pack a powerful punch in fashion.  The 6-inch wedge stylized the wedge sandal, with its strappy design and buckle detail.  The platform itself has to be about 2 or 2 1/2 inches to accommodate the wedge itself.

And let’s not forget the genuine wood 5 inch wedge with Snaz75’s exclusively designed wedge cut out, made with a basic quarter strap and one piece vamp adorned with clear stones.  Has a unique sock lining design that completes the look.

The simplicity of wedges is not absent in today’s time.  They can accent anyone’s wardrobe and give pizzaz to a pair of jeans.

For the spring/summer seasons I like to wear a lot of white.  Where wedges are regarded I decided to get myself a pair of these from Amiclubwear.com.  Faux leather, open toe front with single buckle vamp strap, cross midfoot strap, adjustable ankle buckle strap, cushion footbed, and textured soles. They have a 1 3/4 inch platform, and a 5 1/2 inch wedge heel.

For someone who has never worn a pair of wedges do not know what they are missing.  Wedges are a wonderful addition to anyone’s wardrobe.  If you’ve never worn wedges before the challenge would be to go out, find a simple look can you like, try them on, stand in the mirror and see what you think.  I can almost guarantee that you’ll not want to put them back.  With the many styles and designs that there it wouldn’t be easy finding something to suit your taste.

When people see me wearing wedges outside of my daily high heels, they are a little surprised because I’ve added something different to liven up my shoe collection.

Victoria’s Secret is another good shoe source for sexy high heels.  I have been in love with their Zig Zag wedge.  These are not for the faint at heart.  They are lavishly designed with a rhinestone embellishment, imported leather and set atop a 4 inch wooden heel with a mini platform front.  Delicious!

There are, of course, wedges in different styles, designs and heights that are far less extreme.  Those are designed for those who like to keep it simple, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.  This reminds me of the wedges worn in the 1970’s, the kinds that were the woven style-look, only today designers have added a floral design to the look.  The classic 3-inch wedge heel is still a crowd pleaser.

The next time you’re out shopping for a pair of shoes, consider a hot pair of wedges.  You just can’t go wrong with them.  This is the best time to get them because of the many styles to choose from.
